Beans, nuts, grains & seeds! Come learn how to make your beans, nuts, grains and seeds more delicious and nutritious. Soaking and Sprouting are simple ways to deactivate those compounds that inhibit nutrient absorption. By activating the dormant nutrition in the food itself, it is transformed to a vegetable! We will discuss tools, techniques and troubleshooting. $35/person 6:30pm

 Homemade Fermented Sodas: want to learn how to make delicious bubbly drinks at home? Come learn how to make lacto fermented sodas and ginger ale . You’ll even get to take a few bottles home! Please note that this can be a messy class, so be prepared to get a little soaked yourself and we’ll even send you home with a few bottles to taste too and your own SCOBY! 6:30pm $40/person (this class tends to run late, so please prepare to stay 2-3 hours)

Mother-Daughter Afternoon Tea August 20th

Walk into a fairy tale afternoon at Salt, Fire & Time with your mothers and daughters on Saturday, August 20th, 2011. Another creative event designed by Tracy Talley, guests will enjoy delectable Summer edibles and lazy afternoon libation. Served up with ribbons and lace, Fairy Tales, brightly colored baubles and bouncing, iridescent bubbles to make for an afternoon tea to remember. Eight to Eighty, all mothers and daughters are welcome.
Chapter 1:        Savory Summer Vegetable Shepherd’s Pie
Chapter 2:        Watermelon-Mint Gazpacho
Chapter 3:        Crostini with Fresh Mozzerella and Grilled Tomato

Pregnancy Nutrition Series

The Pregnancy Nutrition Series is a 6 course series co-taught by Dr. Rebecca Asmar of Bambu Clinic and Tressa Yellig of Salt, Fire & Time. The topics include Pre-conception diets and detox, First Trimester Nutrition, Second Trimester Nutrition, Third Trimester Nutrition & Birth Preparation, Postpartum Management, and Baby’s First Foods. We will share recipes, nutrition information, a variety of resources and other helpful hints to make your relationship to your baby healthy and as comfortable as possible. The classes will be discussion based and information packets will preceed each class to give a basis for the conversation. Classes start at 6:30 and will run until 8pm. There will be small tastings of recipes and tea served.
